Suitable for complete beginners and those wanting to understand more about the processes involved in screenprinting with photostencil screens.
Learn how to screen print on fabric using both photographic screens and paper stencils in this unique weekend workshop. This flexible workshop will teach you how to put your own design onto screen then combine them with other screens and paper stencils to produce colourful textiles. You will be taught a complete step-by-step process of both screen printing onto textiles AND making a photographic screen to take away for future use. It is also possible to participate in this workshop without supplying your own screen, but you will not be able to keep it for future use.During the workshop you will learn:• How to prepare and coat your screen• How to expose your design onto the screen• How to wash out the screen• How to mix textile printing inks and colour theory• How to print your designs onto fabric• How to combine your designs with paper stencils to produce multi-layered and unique fabrics• How to heat set your fabrics.
What is supplied:• Photographic emulsion, textile inks, tapes, staples, stencil papers and extra photographic screens to work with. If you do not want to supply your own screen to keep then one is available for use over the weekend.• 1 m white cotton fabric• Linen tea towels or cotton tote bags available for sale to print on.
What you need to supply:• Your own screen (if you wish to keep your design for future use)• Your design that will be exposed onto the screen (further instructions on booking)• An apron or protective clothing• Other suitable natural fabrics to print on
